Fun facts about the 24th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

The 24th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival at Disney World has kicked off and will last for 90 days with about a hundred topiaries, new outdoor kitchens and new menus and Garden Rocks Concert Series.

Here are some fun facts and a look at the festival by the numbers:

30 million blooms blanket the park throughout the festival.

500,000 plants, trees and shrubs are planted for the festival.

1,000 native butterflies are at the butterfly house.

500 container gardens of flowers, herbs, plants and vegetables in clay pots, barrels and urns are around the park.

400 Walt Disney World horticulturists are needed to install the festival landscape and topiaries.

200 floating mini-gardens are in the waters around Epcot.

200 one-pound boxes of hairpins are used to attach plants and flowers to the topiaries.

100 Epcot horticulturists are used to maintain topiaries and other festival displays.

78 hands-on gardening demonstrations and seminars will be presented.

70 beverage choices are offered during the festival.

60 different species of trees are around the park.

48 varieties of bedding plants are used. 

47 types of palms can be seen around the park.

40 food items  are featured at the outdoor kitchens.
