Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin to Reopen on April 8

Prepare for launch! Starting April 8, guests at Disney World can enlist in a revamped intergalactic mission as Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin unveils a series of major enhancements designed to level up the galactic defense.

While Buzz Lightyear remains the face of the mission, Star Command is introducing a brand-new recruit to the ranks: Buddy.

This specialized support bot will meet guests after they board their upgraded XP-37 star cruisers. Buddy’s primary directive is to guide recruits through a specialized interactive target practice session before the final countdown. This pre-flight training ensures every Ranger is battle-ready before descending into the Gamma Quadrant.

To ensure victory over Emporer Zurg’s robotic army, Star Command has overhauled the weaponry and sensory experience within the attraction:

  • Precision Blasters: New handheld blasters now feature an always-on laser, making it easier to track your aim in the heat of battle.
  • Tactile Feedback: Enhanced sound, lighting, and vibration effects have been integrated into the blasters to provide a more immersive “combat” feel.
  • Responsive Targets: The galaxy is more reactive than ever; interactive targets now light up and respond instantly when struck by a laser bolt.

The mission doesn’t end when the star cruiser returns to the docking bay. Returning Rangers can now view newly enhanced photo memories. These digital keepsakes will prominently showcase individual scores, making it easier than ever to settle scores and claim “Galactic Hero” bragging rights among friends and family.
