Photos: Cinderella Castle Begins Color Transformation at Magic Kingdom

The centerpiece of Magic Kingdom is shedding its anniversary skin. The major repainting project for Cinderella Castle is underway, transitioning this icon away from the “Rose Pink” hues of the 50th Anniversary era to a palette rooted in the landmark’s classic origins.

If you’ve walked down Main Street, U.S.A., as we did recently, you’ve likely noticed a significant shift in the castle’s appearance. Much of the vibrant pink that defined the castle since 2020 has been stripped back or covered as crews apply the first layers of a new base.

This isn’t just a simple touch-up; it’s a calculated return to a more traditional look. Imagineers spent months studying previous tonal compositions and the castle’s original 1971 debut to create a scheme that enhances the architectural details rather than masking them in a singular wash of color.

The updated aesthetic trades the heavy rose tones for:

  • Royal Blues: Deep, saturated tones for the turrets that pop against the sky.
  • Soft Creams and Grays: A return to stone-like finishes that highlight the castle’s height and masonry.
  • Radiant Gold: Shimmering accents designed to catch the light during the Florida “Golden Hour.”
