The 7-foot-tall gingerbread giraffe at Disney is a delicious treat to see

Taking a tour of the resorts around Disney World during the holiday season allows you to see all of the gingerbread creations in the lobbies, and at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is a 7-foot-tall giraffe or as Disney likes to call it, a “Gingeraffe.”

In size, Ginger compares to one of the young giraffes found on the savannas. Joining Ginger is Debra the Zebra. And making his first appearance is Francisco the Flamingo. In addition to the three characters are two Hidden Gingerbread Mickeys.

The animals are created by using:

  • 34 pounds of honey
  • 27 pounds of flour
  • 12 pounds of dark modeling chocolate
  • 1.5 pounds of gingerbread spices
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 1 pound simple syrup

This resort is one of the the six big gingerbread house displays to see at Disney World. The others include:

  • 25th Anniversary Gingerbread House at Grand Floridian: This iconic house is celebrating a sugary milestone starting. With an 88-pound white chocolate Santa, dazzling details, and over 10,000 gingerbread pieces, it’s a true feast for the senses. See if you can find the 25 hidden Mickeys.
  • Castle Display at Contemporary Resort: This dazzling creation returns for its 13th year and can be found on the fourth floor of the resort. Walt Disney Imagineers have designed this new overlay inspired by the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights. 
  • Deli Gingerbread House at BoardWalk Inn: Disney’s BoardWalk Inn plays host to a miniature gingerbread version of its iconic and fan-favorite spots from the BoardWalk itself.
  • Holiday Carousel at Beach Club: For 24 years, Disney’s Beach Club Resort has continued their cherished tradition with the life-sized Holiday Carousel. 
  • EPCOT’s Gingerbread Spaceship Earth: Blast off into a sugary adventure with this brand new display  Imagine Spaceship Earth, but made entirely of gingerbread. This 8-foot-tall marvel took over 160 hours to create and will even light up and dances to music.
