Disney to give updates on tiger cub Bakso each Tuesday

Tuesdays are turning into Tiger Tuesdays for the foreseeable future as Disney World is planning for the first time giving fans an inside look at the progression of the news tiger cub.

Bakso, the nearly 7-week-old tiger cub is staying backstage with his mom, Sohni, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As he gets ready to head out on to the Maharajah Jungle Trek next year, Disney will be providing updates on the Disney Parks Blog each Tuesday at 2 p.m.

“We are counting down, because you never know what you might see on this playful cub’s journey — whether its Bakso nuzzling, nursing, snoozing, or even exploring,” Disney shared on its Facebook page.

Sohni is proving to be the perfect mother, showering the new Disney tiger cub with love and affection every moment. Sohni in 2017 gave birth to Anala and Jeda, two female tigers.

Sumatran tiger cubs typically stay with their mothers for 18-24 months, so Bakso will continue to grow and develop under Sohni’s watchful eye. As he gets older, guests will have the opportunity to witness this heartwarming bond and watch Bakso grow into a magnificent tiger.

Despite his small size, Bakso represents a significant contribution to the conservation of Sumatran tigers. With fewer than 600 individuals remaining in the wild and managed care. Bakso serves as a beacon of hope for the future of this critically endangered species and for those dedicated to their protection, according to Disney.
