A wild new addition: Disney welcomes a roaring tiger cub

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating the birth of a new Sumatran tiger cub, Bakso. The playful and curious cub is nearly 3 weeks old and is already exploring the world with his loving mother, Sohni, by his side.

Sohni is proving to be the perfect mother, showering the new Disney tiger cub with love and affection every moment. The two are currently bonding backstage, but guests can expect to see the adorable duo on Maharajah Jungle Trek in a few months. Sohni in 2017 gave birth to Anala and Jeda, two female tigers.

Sumatran tiger cubs typically stay with their mothers for 18-24 months, so Bakso will continue to grow and develop under Sohni’s watchful eye. As he gets older, guests will have the opportunity to witness this heartwarming bond and watch Bakso grow into a magnificent tiger.

Despite his small size, Bakso represents a significant contribution to the conservation of Sumatran tigers. With fewer than 600 individuals remaining in the wild and managed care. Bakso serves as a beacon of hope for the future of this critically endangered species and for those dedicated to their protection, according to Disney.
