Disney’s Polynesian Resort construction will go through 2026
Even though the scheduled grand opening for the new 10-story Island Tower addition at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is Dec. 17, 2024, construction and refurbishment of Disney’s Polynesian Resort will continue through 2026, Disney announced on its website.
According to Disney, “We’re preparing for the proposed expansion of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Construction is underway.
“Additionally, select portions of the Resort hotel are undergoing refurbishment.
Now through 2026, you may see and hear construction and refurbishment work during daytime hours. The ongoing enhancements may impact views of the theme park and other surrounding areas.To minimize disruptions during your stay, activities that may create noise will begin no earlier than 9:00 AM.
“Refurbishment work is subject to change due to operational needs or weather conditions.”
The new Island Tower promises a diverse array of accommodations, each adorned with original artwork echoing the spirit of the Polynesian Islands. Drawing inspiration from the elements of earth, water, wind, and sky, the rooms will also feature bespoke pieces influenced by the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Moana.”
Disney’s Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort celebrates the spirit of the South Pacific while being a quick monorail or boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. The resort boasts a wide array of accommodations from rooms to suites. Dining options include ‘Ohana, Kona Café, Kona Island, Capt. Cook’s and poolside snack bars along with Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a tropical tiki bar, Tambu Lounge and Pineapple Lanai. Recreation amenities include swimming at the Lava Pool, complete with a towering volcano and a 142-foot-long waterslide, and the Oasis Pool, tucked amid a lush garden. Other activities include boating, fishing, jogging trail, campfire activities and Disney movies under the stars. There is easy access to the rest of Walt Disney World Resort via watercraft, motor coach and monorail.
The Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows has waterside bungalows along the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon with views of Magic Kingdom. Deluxe studios are also available. Bungalows feature a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining areas and a private deck and plunge pool for guests to unwind and rejuvenate after park days.
