Photos: Contemporary gingerbread display celebrates Disney 100
Disney’s Contemporary Resort gingerbread display returns for its 12th year and celebrates the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary.
Found on the fourth floor of the resort, now through Jan. 6, 2024, this year’s Mary Blair-inspired 100th Celebration-themed Castle Display was designed by Walt Disney Imagineers for this momentous occasion.
Led by Pastry Chef Jeff Barnes, the display, which took 40 bakery cast members 12 days to construct. It stands 17 feet 6 inches tall and 25 feet 4 inches wide, and has 12 Hidden Mickeys and 1 five legged goat.
The Contemporary gingerbread display is made up of 4,000 gingerbread bricks. To construct the castle, the team used:
- 1,012 pounds of flour
- 612 pounds of sugar
- 512 eggs
- 439 jars of honey
- 112 pounds of gingerbread spice
- 88 pounds of rolled fondant
- 67 pounds of modeling chocolate
- 51 pounds of chocolate
- 43 pounds of royal icing
- 12 gallons of milk
The Contemporary gingerbread display joins others at the Grand Floridian, BoardWalk Inn and Beach Club around the Walt Disney World Resort.
