Journey of Water officially opens at EPCOT

As The Walt Disney Company commemorates its 100th anniversary, Walt Disney World is making a big splash with the official public opening of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

In this enchanting new attraction, guests embark on a beautifully landscaped walking trail filled with delightful surprises at every turn. As they meander through this lush and tropical path, they get to engage with water in truly magical ways, reminiscent of Moana’s interactions with the ocean. From a simple greeting to a playful high-five or even a thrilling crashing wave, the experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world inspired by the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Moana.”

The attraction will be using the virtual queue when lines get long and is expected to use the virtual queue at least for the opening week. On the first day the wait on the queue as six hours long.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet Moana herself in a new area of World Nature, situated conveniently across from Journey of Water. This designated spot provides a perfect backdrop for memorable photos, warm hugs, and sharing lessons about water conservation with the Wayfinder.

This attraction promises fun for all ages, where guests can discover ways to befriend, protect, and cherish the world’s life-giving water. Much like Moana’s bond with the ocean, water here has a playful personality of its own. Guests can create music with “rain harps,” greet jumping streams, and even conjure a roaring ocean wave.

As guests explore the trail, they’ll encounter Te Fiti, the guardian of water as it journeys through the water cycle. There might be delightful surprises, with beloved characters like Heihei, Pua, and, of course, Moana, etched into the rock formations.
