Watch: Disneyland Resort’s World of Color is ‘One’ of a kind
During our recent visit to Disneyland, we had the incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in the magic of Disney’s 100th-anniversary celebrations. One of the highlights we eagerly anticipated was witnessing the “World of Color – ONE” show at Disney California Adventure.
As we gathered in the splash zone area, we were filled with anticipation and excitement. Little did we know that this nighttime spectacle would touch our hearts so deeply that it brought tears to our eyes, along with the drenching mist of water from the fountains.
This nighttime spectacular tells the powerful story of how a single action – like a drop of water – creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. Paradise Bay is transformed with a dazzling array of fountains, lighting, lasers, fog and flame effects, harmonized with songs and stories from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel of courageous, loving and inspiring characters who dared to be wavemakers and change the world.
Moments from Star Wars and the Avengers are depicted in a graphic style. The bold, graphic approach to the Avengers portion of the show was inspired by end credit sequences in “Black Panther” and the Disney+ original series “Hawkeye.” The Star Wars segment uses a painterly style based on original production art for the films.
The score is composed of 18 musical compositions, including an original song “Start a Wave,” which was written by Grammy-nominated Cody Fry and features lead vocals performed by singer-songwriter and actress Loren Allred.
The 1,200 fountains in “World of Color – ONE” act as dancers, interpreting the various moments in the show. During the “Born to Play” sequence from Disney and Pixar’s “Soul,” the jazz tune appears to be “played” by the fountains.
And if you decide like us to stand in the front be prepared to get wet from the the geyser fountains capable of shooting water up to 200 feet in the air and the water screens used for digital projections, which are 380 feet wide.
This show is a visual and musical symphony of uplifiting moments from the Disney library it’s one of those things that will make you feel good.
Pro tips: Go to the second showing of the night, there are a lot less people and a lot easier to get a good spot. If you decide to stand in the front splash zone areato watch, put on the poncho. Some people may give you an odd look, but at the end of the show, you will have dry clothes.
