Motion sickness bags being offered to those at end of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
To help combat the issue of some guests experiencing motion sickness from riding the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster that debuted today in EPCOT, Disney is offering motion sickness bags.
While there are no bags on the ride, as they are in Mission: Space, cast members were seen offering bags to those who looked a little peaked as they exited. In addition, a few garbage cans with no lids have been placed at the exit to make it a little easier if people felt the need to vomit.
The ride is the first Disney Omnicoaster, meaning the cars make controlled rotations to keep the rider focused on the action. There are no inversions like Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. While there is a backward launch, it is not as fast as when you go backward on Expedition Everest. In addition, there are giant screens where images and video are being played while riding.
Many people who came off the ride today said they felt a little uneasy because they were looking all around them when on the ride.
This isn’t the first time Disney has dealt with motion sickness issues. When Mission: Space first opened in 2003, delays took place numerous times as guests threw up in the ride vehicles and vomited when exiting the ride. The simulator was so intense that Disney eventually took one side of the attraction and toned it down for riders by creating the “Green” Mission. There are still motion sickness bags available in all capsules.
