Oops. Disney accidentally sells first shipment of the new MagicBand+

Disney fans are always searching for the newest merchandise when going through stores at Disney World. And when the MagicBand+ appeared on shelves, accidentally, on Sunday, April 30 many people gobbled them up. That is until Disney pulled them.

For those who did purchase Disney’s next generation of wearable tech they will have to wait until next month to be able to connect it to the My Disney Experience app, when it officially debuts, to be able to use the latest MagicBand.

The band, priced at $29.99, is the latest version with some additional bells and whistles. The band will havecCustomizable color-changing lights, haptic vibrations let you feel the magic with light vibrations that bring experiences to life and gesture recognition where your movement enables will enable things (and you thought only wands can do that).

The new MagicBand+ can still be used like other bands to enter theme and wear parks, check-in at Lighting Lanes, connect with at Disney PhotoPass account, be used as a key to a Disney Resort hotel room and be used to charge food and merchandise purchases if you are staying at a hotel resort.

Three of the new things being touted by Disney with the new MagicBand include:

  • Becoming a bounty hunter at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge where you can track down virtual bounties with your band throughout Black Spire Outpost
  • Interacting with the Disney Fab 50 Characater Collection, the golden sculptures spread throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.
  • Interacting withnighttime spectaculars, including Harmoniuous at EPCOT and Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom. The bands will light up (similar to the interactive Mickey Ear headbands from a few years ago.

No specific dates have been released yet when everything will activate, but since we all now they are now on property, it could be any time.
