Springtime Surprise Weekend race medals may not make it to the event

Supply chain issues have been hampering everyone and have hit Disney hard in the past. Whether it was holiday merchandise arriving just as the holiday ends, or some event merchandise showing up in the last days of the event.

Now, Disney is alerting all those participating in this weekend’s runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend that medals handed out after the run, might not show up in time.

The race weekend is being held March 31 through April 2, 2022 at Disney World. The event kicks off with a special Sunrise Yoga event by Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom on the morning of Thursday, March 31. That is also the day the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex opens. 

The first race begins on Thursday evening with the Expedition Everest 5K. This nighttime run also contains a scavenger hunt through Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Race for the Taste 10K inspired by “Ratatouille” starts off at 5 a.m. on Saturday. And the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Mile, begins at at 5 a.m. Sunday

According to the runDisney website:

ALERT: Due to global supply chain issues, event medals for the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend may not arrive in time for the event. If we are unable to present the medals this weekend, we will make every effort to get runners their well-deserved medal(s) as quickly as possible.
