Electrical Water Pageant getting new scene for Disney World’s 50th anniversary

The Electrical Water Pageant is getting a new scene as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

A towering castle, swirling pixie dust and a version of the celebration anthem song, β€œThe Magic is Calling,” will bookend the full traditional show as it sails nightly across Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

Disney has released a photo of the new float.

The Electrical Water Pageant itself will be celebrating its own 50th anniversary on Oct. 25, 1971. That was when it premiered on the water for “Dedication Day” at Walt Disney World with 14 floats.

Over the years, the water pageant, that can be seen nightly from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (check updated times here) from the Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and the Contemporary Resort, has gone through a few changes.

While the lineup below is not official, with the description from Disney, this is the most likely scenario starting Oct. 1:

Opening: “The Magic is Calling,” the 50th-anniversary anthem

  • Sea Serpent (four floats) “Boo Bop Bopbop Bop (I Love You Too)” from Pete’s Dragon
  • Whale (one float) (Updated later in 1997) “Whale of a Tale” from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
  • Turtle (one float)
  • Octopus (one float) “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid
  • Three Jumping Dolphins (three floats)
  • Brachiosaurus (one float) “Walk the Dinosaur” by Was (Not Was)
  • Crocodile (one float) “Never Smile at a Crocodile” from Peter Pan
  • Four Seahorses (one float) “Fanfare” & “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid
  • Neptune (one float) “Fanfare” & “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid
  • Cinderella Castle – New scene for the 50th anniversary

It is unknown if the floats will change to American Flag & Stars as they have been doing since 1971 with “You’re a Grand Old Flag”, “Yankee Doodle”, and “America the Beautiful” or if it will have a special 50th anniversary ending.

Closing:”The Magic is Calling,” the 50th-anniversary anthem
