Photos: Disney’s Blizzard Beach reopens with physical distancing
Blizzard Beach Water park reopened today with new health and safety protocols. This is the first time in nearly a year a Disney World water park has reopened.
The park is operating at reduced capacity, has implemented temperature screenings, has physical distancing markers and requiring face coverings in designated areas for each Guest age 2 and up, including the park entrance and exit, retail areas, and food and beverage ordering areas. Face coverings are not needed when in the water or on water slides.
According to the water park’s backstory, a freak snowstorm on Jan. 11, 1977 ed to the development of Florida’s first ski resort. Ski lifts were put up, toboggan runs were laid down and an entire resort area blossomed around the mountain of snow. When normal temperatures returned, the snow turned to slush, leaving behind it waterlogged yet snowless ski jumps and chair lifts. The operators turned it into a water park.
The quick service areas do encourage mobile ordering, as is done in other theme parks, but there are still physical lines for ordering.
