5 things to know about the new Disney Riviera Resort at Disney World
The 15th Disney Vacation Club property called the Riviera Resort was announced at the D23 Expo 2017 this past weekend in Anaheim, California.
The big news was that this new resort will be on the new Disney Skyliner gondola system connecting that resort, as well as Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts with Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot.
Here are answers to some basic questions about the resort:
Where is the resort located?
The new resort is being carved out of the northwest area of the current Caribbean Beach Resort.
How big is the new resort?
There will be about 300 units in total with a combination of Deluxe Studios, one- and two-bedroom Villas and three-bedroom Grand Villas. Concept art shows the buildings to be eight stories high. Most Disney resorts have their own pool, so that should be expected. There is usually a quick-service food area included for food and a sit-down restaurant.
Is there a big draw?
There rooftop restaurant is supposed offer views of nighttime spectaculars a both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
When will the resort open?:
The scheduled opening is Fall 2019.
Is this going to be a Moderate or Deluxe resort?
It will most likely be a Deluxe resort as most of the newer DVC resorts being constructed are Deluxe and come with the deluxe price tag. However, chances are that this will be the sister resort of Caribbean Beach, just as Bay Lake Tower is the sister resort of the Contemporary, so we don’t know exactly how that would work since Caribbean Beach is a moderate resort.
