Photos: Catching up with Baby Grace at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Most of the time when visiting the gorilla habitat on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom you get to see the gorillas up close and personal next to the plexiglass wall where the gorillas love to get some shade (see the video below).

But if you get there during feeding time, try getting there first thing after park opening, and you will be able to see the gorillas on the hillside and you might get a chance to see Baby Grace.

Grace is really no longer a baby, but at only 15 months, this western lowland gorilla, still spends most of her time with her mother, Kashata, roaming the habitat.

Here, we were able to get some views of her with mom as they forage for food. A video below shows Grace looking for some attention from mom.

Grace was born May 1, 2019, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World to mother Kashata (left) and father Gino. She is named after the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center (GRACE), a gorilla sanctuary in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is dedicated to helping gorillas orphaned by poaching.
