What’s happening to these 8 Disney Springs shops, restaurants

Some construction walls will be remaining up around Disney Springs for a while as the coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc with the people’s health and the economy.

We now know that some some projects are on hold, others have been canceled, but many are continuing for now and some new shops should be opening by the end of the year.

Here’s a look at where everything now stands:

Beatrix. Construction on hold.  Work on this massive neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and grab-and-go market featuring healthy food options is officially on hold for now, according to the company. The project is not dead, but just in limbo. No date has been set for the construction of the new restaurant to resume, according to the company Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises. The new location, which will be built where Bongos once stood, is cleared. Considering how restaurants are having difficulty operating now, this project could be delayed for a while.

Ample Hills CreameryNot happening. The ice cream parlor is no longer coming to Disney Springs and the location at the BoardWalk will not reopen. The company’s contract with Disney ended in January and it was going through some financial troubles, not related to COVID-19, and has been sold.

Cirque Du Soleil. Possibly, Nov. 17, 2020 – Walt Disney Animation Studios have joined forces with Cirque du Soleil to create a show, Drawn to Life, that combines Disney storytelling and heart with Cirque du Soleil’s signature artistry. It was supposed to open in March and then tickets were starting to sell for Nov. 5 and now for Nov. 17. It is unknown when people will be allowed to enter large arenas in groups again, so this show could be on hold for some time.

Lululemon Store – Opening in 2020 – The upscale athletic apparel company which sells items for yoga, running and training is probably best known for its leggings, though they do also sell apparel for men. Work is continuing fast on the building and the sign has already been placed on the building.

Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew – TBD – A new donut shop called Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew will be debuting at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. No further information was made available on when the store will open or even where this new shop will be located at Disney Springs. It could open in 2020 or early 2021. While the color of the sign and the typeface might remind you of Dunkin’ Donuts, that company has nothing to do with this new venture. We called Dunkin’ and they assured us, they are not involved in the project. Though, they might want to call the company and challege the typeface.
