What’s coming to Disney+ on July 31, 2020: Beyoncé, Muppets

Beyoncé and the Muppets are the major releases coming to the Disney+ streaming service this week on July 31.

Fridays are when Disney+ introduces its new original episodes, movies and adds releases from the Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel and National Geographic libraries.

Beyoncé’s “Black is King,” which reimagines the lessons of “The Lion King,” comes to Disney+ with the first Muppets series in a long time, a Marvel animated debuts, as well as 18 National Geographic series and documentaries make their debut on the service.

Here’s a closer look at all of that is coming:

Black is King

This visual album from Beyoncé was in production for one year with a cast and crew that represent diversity and connectivity in this reimagining of lessons from “The Lion King.”

The tale is about a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity. His ancestors help guide him toward his destiny, and with his father’s teachings and guidance from his childhood love, he earns the virtues needed to reclaim his home and throne.

These timeless lessons are revealed and reflected through Black voices of today, now sitting in their own power. “Black Is King” is an affirmation of a grand purpose, with lush visuals that celebrate Black resilience and culture. The film highlights the beauty of tradition and Black excellence. Based on the music of “The Lion King: The Gift,” and starring the album’s featured artists and some special guest appearances, “Black Is King” is a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience. Videos for “My Power,” “Mood 4 Eva,” and “Brown Skin Girl” are extravagances of elegance and soul. extraordinary gift and a purposeful future.

Muppets Now – Premiere

The Muppets return with with is The Muppets Studio’s first unscripted series and first original series for Disney+. In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming. They are due now, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.

In this first episode just when Scooter is about to hit the upload button, Kermit The Frog inadvertently alerts the rest of the Muppet gang that they are about to go live – unleashing an avalanche of last-minute notes, tweaks, changes, suggestions, revisions, and ideas. Miss Piggy tries an impactful beauty treatment with Taye Diggs before dishing on personal style with Linda Cardellini. Muppet fanboy Walter uncovers Kermit’s secret passion for photgraphy. The Swedish Chef challenges Chef Carlina Will to a culinary curry cook-off where things get heated. Finally, Kermit goes one-on-one with RuPaul for a conversation about multi-tasking, all while fielding requests and interruptions from other Muppets.

Marvel Funko

If you liked the Marvel LEGO shows, you’ll find these series of shorts amusing as the Funko Pop versions of the Marvel heroes come to life in these amusing shorts.

Disney Family Sundays

In the latest episode, “Mickey and Minnie: Pillows,” the Chaney family joins Amber for a Minnie and Mickey Mouse-inspired DIY craft they can really sleep on.
