AMC now hopes to reopen U.S. movie theaters in August

AMC Theaters today announced it is currently planning to reopen its U.S. movie theatres in mid to late August.

“This new timing reflects currently expected release dates for much-anticipated blockbusters like Warner Bros.’ “Tenet” and Disney’s “Mulan,” as well as release dates for several other new movies coming to AMC’s big screens.

This is third time AMC has had to push back its reopening as portions of the U.S. surged with coronavirus cases.

AMC is the largest theatrical exhibition company in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East. In the company’s new release it stated that about one-third of all AMC cinemas in Europe and the Middle East are already open and operating normally.

The three other large movie theater companies, Regal Entertainment, Cinemark, USA and Cineplex Entertainment have not announced their intentions.
