These 3 Disney World attractions are now closed permanently
Even though Walt Disney World has reopened its theme parks, there are three attractions that will not be returning.
Disney has confirmed that Stitch’s Great Escape at Magic Kingdom, Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom, and Rivers of Light, also as Animal Kingdom are permanently closed.
Stitch’s Great Escape has been closed since late 2016 at the Magic Kingdom. Part of the attraction has been used as a meet and greet location for Stitch. There has been no indication by Disney as to what would replace the attraction once Disney is in a position to again add attractions.
Primeval Whirl has been closed for more than a year due to technical issues. Again, there has been no mention as to what might replace it, or if DinoLand, U.S.A., where the attraction is locate, will remain intact.
Rivers of Light, which introduced nighttime entertainment to Animal Kingdom, is another casualty. The show was touted as having ground-breaking technology. However, its launch was delayed and then the show as revamped after guests did not rate it that high. Last year, due to budget cuts, live performers were removed from the show. As of now, the waterways around Animal Kingdom are being used by boats filled with characters for physical distance character viewing. Considering it might be a while until nighttime shows return to Disney because of the coronavirus, there is plenty of time to see if Animal Kingdom will have a nighttime future.
