Hong Kong Disneyland re-closing due to rising COVID-19 cases

Hong Kong Disneyland announced it will close again due to a second outbreak of COVID-19 in the Hong Kong area, as the government reimposed social distancing measures, limiting groups to no more than four people from gathering in public.

“As required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from July 15,” according to a statement from the company. Resort hotels will remain open.

The news was first broke by HKDL of Fantasy, which covers Hong Kong Disneyland.

Hong Kong Disneyland reopened June 18, it was the second park to reopen after Shanghai Disneyland.

Hong Kong reported 52 new cases of COVID-19, Monday, July 13, including 41 that were locally transmitted. Amid growing concerns new anti-virus measures were announced.

The closing takes place at Walt Disney World just reopened Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom during record coronavirus case reports in Florida and the U.S. On July 15, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Paris are scheduled to reopen.
