Top 100 Greatest Movies for Kids list released, Disney has 29 on the list
Scholastic Parent & Child magazine has unveiled its list of “100 Greatest Movies for Kids” and there are a slew of Disney movies making the list, with four of them in the top 10, but none topping the list.
The No. 1 spot goes to “The Wizard of Oz,” starring Judy Garland, but Disney does have 29 movies on the overall list with “Mary Poppins,” “Toy Story 2,” “Beauty and The Beast” and “Pinocchio” in the top 10.
“We are thrilled to offer an all-inclusive and interactive look at family films that have resonated with our readers, young and old, for generations,” Nick Friedman , editor-in-chief, Scholastic Parent & Child. said in a news release..
To create the list, which you can find here, Scholastic enlisted a team of movie industry insiders including: Betsy Bozdech , movie editor from Common Sense Media; Nell Minow, “The Movie Mom” on Belief Net; Ben Mankiewicz , weekend host of Turner Classic Movies; Bill Hader of Saturday Night Live & Essentials, Jr. on Turner Classic Movies and Eric Beckerman of the New York International Children’s Film Festival.
The group started off with nearly 400 movies.
