Cirque du Soleil files for bankruptcy protection, Disney show tickets on sale for November
Cirque du Soleil has filed for creditor protection in Canada and Chapter 15 bankruptcy in the U.S. while it develops a plan to restart its business.
The coronavirus pandemic has caused the company to temporarily close productions around the world in March. Cirque du Soleil also announced the termination of approximately 3,480 employees previously furloughed in March.
This move, according to Cirque du Soleil, does not mean the company is bankrupt, rather it is trying to restructure its company. And as part of this, the company has entered into a purchase agreement, which includes the intent to rehire many of the terminated employees so it can resume operations.
Employees of the resident shows, such as the upcoming Drawn to Life at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World and the shows in Las Vegas were not affected.
Tickets are now on sale for the Drawn to Life with the show starting on Nov. 5, 2020. Here is where you can purchase tickets.
