Orange County Mayor: Disney indicates it will submit reopening plans next week
Walt Disney World has indicated it will submit its reopening plans to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force next week, according to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.
This does not mean the information would become public next week. Demings, during an interview with CNBC, said that Disney is expected to submit the plan and once the plan is received the Economic Recovery Task Force would then set a date for a full review.
“At this time that is an undefined time or date,” he said. “But we do look forward to seeing that sometime next week.”
Demings made his comments while talking about his approval of Universal Studios Orlando’s plan and his intention to send it to the the governor’s office for approval.
The way the process worked for Universal is that the plan was submitted and group of county inspectors visited the parks before the plan was discussed to view what changes Universal was making and review the plans.
Disney, on May 20, partially reopened Disney Springs, its dining and shopping district. More stores will be opening during the next week, including the largest World of Disney store in the world.
