Baby zebra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is named, now on the safari

The baby Hartmann’s mountain zebra foal born earlier this month at Animal Kingdom has a name and has made her first appearance on Kilimanjaro Safaris.

The foal’s name, Asha, was decided on by a poll of all Walt Disney World Cast Members. Asha means “hope” in Sanskrit, and “life” in Swahili.

Asha recently headed on to the safari with her mother, Heidi. The foal stood beside her mother while meeting a member of her zebra herd, watched the giraffes nearby and heard the call of a hyena, according to Zoological Manager Meaghan McCarthy.
