Make your own magic: Create a character meal at home

Character meals are a staple of Disney vacations. My favorite is the Crystal Palace, where Winnie the Pooh and friends bouncy-wounce around the restaurant visiting tables.

Today, to bring a little magic home, gather all the Disney stuffed animals and dolls you can find and bring them to the table for your family’s very own character meal.

If you have an especially extensive collection, you could even do a series of meals — princesses, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse and friends … whoever you want to invite!

You can even theme your menus. If you’re having a character breakfast, break out your Mickey waffle maker or make Mickey-shaped pancakes (no special equipment required).

I hate to admit it, but I love hitting the kids’ sections of the buffet line for chicken fingers, corn dog nuggets, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Those are all easy comfort foods at a time we could all use a little comfort.
