How Disney is trying to make this Epcot attraction more interesting for younger kids

One of the goals of the reimagining of Epcot at Disney World is to make it more family-friendly. This is why this “festival” theme park, filled nearly all-year-round with food and drink opportunities, has decided to create a Play Pavilion and other attractions for the younger children.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends already accomplishes this with its ride and children’s play area and Turtle Talk. Also, after all, who doesn’t love looking at the dolphins and fishes in the large aquarium tanks?

But, Disney is now going a bit further. Yes, the aquarium is already fun for young kids, but how can you teach them and keep them interested in the location for a longer time? Keeping people interested for longer periods of time at Epcot is important considering how a large portion of the park is now under construction.

Disney has introduced a new scavenger hunt, “Finding Dory’s Friends – A Fin-Tastic Scavenger Hunt” aimed at younger children. This is not an app, but one involving a small booklet with what all kids love – stickers.

The idea is to search six areas of the pavilion with clues provided by Dory to find her friends and place stickers in the proper location. Along the way, she provides clues with a few songs, such as this one from the Marine Mammal Area –

“Trying to lift him, would be just insanity. He weighs half a ton! My friend is a _______.”

The 14-page booklet is free and can be found on the first floor inside The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion.
