Epcot’s Spaceship Earth is closing on May 26 for major overhaul
The symbol of Epcot is getting a major makeover starting May 26, 2020, Disney announced.
While the exterior of the giant geospehere will remain the same, story will be changing focus to one of the story of humanity, following the journey from prehistoric humans to life today, according to Disney.
This will be the attraction’s fourth update since the park’s grand opening on Oct. 1, 1982.
Many of scenes will remain and be updated, but there will also be new scenes added.
One of the changes will include the Egyptian scene where we now learn how papyrus is made. But this will be “Egypt like you’ve never seen before, transformed through the power of light,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.
New narration will be added and part of the focus will be how light plays a central role in the shared human journey.
No indication has been given as to how long the attraction will be closed or when it might reopen.
