8 big things happening at Disney World this February 2020
New eateries, a special parade, the end of a festival and people on the run are some of the big things happening this February at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Here’s a closer look:
Feb. 1-24: Epcot International Festival of the Arts
The festival, which features dozens of artists, hundreds of pieces of art, over 40 different types of specialty foods, concerts, performance art, interactive exhibits, classes and special photo ops ends at the end of February.
Part of the festival, which is a lot of fun, is the Broadway Concert Series. Here is the schedule of the performers.
- Feb. 1, 2, 5 and 6 – Kara Lindsay (“Newsies”) and Kevin Massey (“Tarzan”)
- Feb. 3, 4, 7 and 8 – Liana Hunt (“Newsies”) and Adam Jacobs (“Aladdin”)
- Feb. 9 – Special performance featuring Lindsay, Massey, Hunt and Jacobs
- Feb. 10, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22 and 23 – Ashley Brown (“Mary Poppins”) and Josh Strickland (“Tarzan”)
- Feb. 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20 and 21 – Syndee Winters (“The Lion King”) and Michael James Scott (“Aladdin”)
- Feb. 24 – Special performance featuring Brown, Strickland, Winters and Scott.
Feb. 2 – Eats at the Epcot Experience
New dining options are opening around Epcot in preparation for the closing of the Electric Umbrella. One of those places is the Eats at the Epcot Experience in the Odyssey Pavilion. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will serve flatbreads, salads, pretzels, ice cream and beverages.
Feb. 3 – Super Bowl MVP Parade
On Feb. 3, the day after the Super Bowl a special parade will take place at the Magic Kingdom featuring the MVP from Super Bowl LIV and possibly some other teammates. Look for the “I’m going to Disney World” spot immediately after the game. This will happen around 2:40 p.m. and will also be livestreamed on the Disney Parks Blog.
Feb. 7 – Disney Villains After Hours
The first of the 24 special extra ticketed event bringing together the villains for a night of partying, a phenomenal stage show “Villains Unite the Night” (see our review here) and a new Villains’ Cursed Caravan kicks off Feb. 7 at the Magic Kingdom.
Feb. 19 – FastPass+ starts for Smugglers Run
The FastPass line at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge start to be utilized normally starting Feb. 19 as it will finally be open to guests. Reservations opened up for guests to make FastPass reservations earlier in January.
Feb. 20-23 -Disney Princess Half Marathon
Runners of all ages will descend upon Walt Disney World for the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend. This includes a Kids Races, a 5K, 10K and the Half Marathon race.
Feb. 25 – A special 10th anniversary
The Wide World of Sports complex at the Walt Disney World Resort is officially renamed to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Feb 25 – Mardi Gras
Celebrate Mardi Gras at some of the restaurants at Disney Springs and head over to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort to see a mini-float parade.
