The 7 major changes coming to Disney World in January
Happy New Year. And a New Year at Walt Disney World means more changes are coming to the resort.
January will see the opening of three new films at Epcot, the opening of two new restaurants and some major closures and moves.
Here’s a look at what’s coming.
The first week of the year will see some moves made in Epcot.
1. Mouse Gear will close for refurbishment on Jan. 4, 2020 and move to a new location in Innoventions East. That new location will open Jan. 5, 2020. No announcements have been made when the renovation will be complete. closed for refurbishment.
2. The Temporary Character Spot will be closing on Jan. 5, 2020 and the characters will be moving to the following new locations:
- Mickey Mouse moves to the new meet and greet location in the Pixar Short Film Festival at the Imagination pavilion.
- Minnie Mouse moves to the World Showcase Plaza gazebo where Daisy Duck is now located.
- Daisy Duck will move to a location in Future World East
- Joy moves to the new meet and greet area in the Imagination pavilion
- Baymax and Sadness will stop meeting guests
3. The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will debut Jan. 17 at Epcot. This new interactive sing-along, similar to the Frozen one found in Hollywood Studios, will share the current theater with “Impressions de France” at the France pavilion and will run multiple times per day.
4. A new Canada Circle-Vision 360 also debuts on Jan. 17. The “Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360,” will have new scenes and will have an entire new story coming to the Canada pavilion in Epcot.
5. The third new film announced for opening in Epcot is the “Awesome Planet” coming to the Land Pavilion. The film will showcase the spectacular beauty, diversity, and dynamic story of the planet in World Nature.
6. The first of two new restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort are scheduled to open in January. The first is City Works Eatery & Pour House This new restaurant on the lower level of the NBA Experience at Disney Springs will offer 80 draft beers with a selection of local, regional and global craft brews with a constantly rotating draft list, complemented by classic American cuisine with chef-driven twists.
7. The second restaurant scheduled to open in January is the a new smokehouse in Epcot. The Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue celebrates the regions of American backyard barbecue and craft beers. The restaurant is located outside at the American Adventure.
