20 things to look forward to at the Disneyland Resort in 2020

The Disneyland Resort in 2020 will be unveiling new attractions, a new land, new parade and guest experiences throughout the resort.

In addition, there will be some additions taking place to the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort and the Downtown Disney District.

Here’s a look at what’s coming in 2020:

1. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Opens Jan. 17, 2020 – The newest attraction to open inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering. The attraction takes guests aboard a full-size transport shuttle before they are captured by a Star Destroyer and find themselves in the middle of a climactic battle between the dark side of the First Order and the light side of the Resistance, including BB-8 and Rey.

2. New “Magic Happens” Parade -Debuts Feb. 28 at Disneyland Park – The all-new “Magic Happens” parade will feature an energetic musical score and a new song, co-composed by singer-songwriter Todrick Hall. This new daytime parade will feature floats, costumes, and Disney characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2”  and “Moana,” plus “Coco,” “Sleeping Beauty” and more, all led by Mickey Mouse and his pals.

3. Avengers Campus – Open Summer 2020 at Disney California Adventure – This new land will open with the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature Spider-Man. Guests will enter this attraction at the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB. Avengers Campus will also feature Pym Test Kitchen. Here, Ant-Man and The Wasp are using their growing and shrinking technology, Pym Particles, to create big and little foods at this eatery. Throughout the campus, guests will find themselves face-to-face with legendary Super Heroes, in heroic encounters with Ant-Man and The Wasp, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and his elite guards, the Dora Milaje, Thor and Iron Man.

4. Lunar New Year Celebration – Jan 17 to Feb. 9 at Disney California Adventure -Celebrating the Year of the Mouse, the limited-time festival allows guests of all ages to enjoy many offerings, including the bright and bold Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, the return of the heartwarming “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration” prior to “World of Color,” a Lucky Wishing Wall, delectable foods inspired by Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures, and more.

5. Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival – Feb. 28 to April 21 – This limited-time culinary festival brings many offerings for guests of all ages to enjoy with more than a dozen Festival Marketplaces, to cooking demonstrations and seminars with Disney chefs and celebrity chefs, live music, and even hands-on entertainment for kids in the Junior Chef experience with Chef Goofy.

6. Disneyland After Dark at Disneyland- January and February – There are two special after-hours ticketed events at Disneyland. The special 80s Nite takes takes place Jan 29 and Sweethearts’ Nite takes place Feb. 12 and Feb. 13.

7. Disneyland After Dark at Disney California Adventure – March and April – The special after-hours ticketed events at Disney California Adventure will take place on March 5 with Pixar Nite and om April 30 Villains Nite will be held.

8. New Orleans Square Mardi Gras – Feb. 25 – New Orleans Square at Disneyland gets decked out for Mardis Gras with beads, masks, and specialty food.

9. Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa – Spring 2020 – This new spa will be located near GCH Craftsman Bar and the hotel’s entrance to Disney California Adventure park. Inspired by the spirit of nature and Californian heritage, this full-service spa will allow guests to choose from an array of body treatments, facials, massage and salon services.

10. Asian Street Eats – Winter 2020 – Asian Street Eats by Chef Hung Huynh, a new concept from Earl Enterprises, the same restaurant group that brings you Earl of Sandwich and other popular eateries. This trendy take-out window will serve a flavorful variety of Asian dishes and will be located on the west end of the Downtown Disney District.

11. Jamba Juice – Early 2020 –  Recently, Jamba Juice announced a more simplified name – Jamba – to better reflect its menu of smoothies, juices and bowls catering to a broad spectrum of tastes. The name change is part of a larger modernization of its store design coming to the Downtown Disney District.

12. Indiana Jones Adventure 25th anniversary – March 3 – Can you believe that it has been 25 years since this ride opened at Disneyland?

13. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters 15th anniversary – March 17 – Have you ever reached Galactic Hero in this Disneyland ride?

14. Egg-stravaganza – April, Weeks before Easter – A special scavenger hunt takes place around the Disneyland Resort.

15. Grad Nites – May and June 2020 – Throughout these two months the parks get filled with high school seniors and special parties after 9 p.m.

16. Fourth of July – July 4 – Disneyland celebrates with decorations, special food and the “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.”

17. Disneyland celebrates its 65th anniversary – July 17 – The park celebrates its 65th anniversary the following attractions celebrating their 65th anniversary – Autopia, Jungle Cruise, Disneyland Railroad, Mark Twain Riverboat, The Golden Horseshoe, King Arthur Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan’s Flight and Snow White’s Scary Adventures.

18. Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party – September – October – This specially ticketed event takes place on select nights during Halloween time takes place at Disney California Adventure.

19. Halloween Time – September – October – Halloween is huge at Disneyland with Main Street, U.S.A. decked out with hundreds of carved pumpkins and a number of Disney characters wearing their Halloween costumes.

20. Holidays at the Disneyland Resort – November-Early January 2021 – The Disneyland Resort goes all out during the Christmas holiday. Disney California Adventure holds the Festival of the Holidays and there is a special World of Color – Season of Light. Disneyland is all decked out for the holidays with special fireworks, a special parade, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle and special holiday overlays for Haunted Mansion and it’s a small world. The hotels and Downtown Disney are also dressed up for the holiday and hold special events.
