Runner collapses, dies at 5K Wine & Dine race at Disney World

A runner collapsed and died during 5K race Friday morning at Walt Disney World.

“We are deeply saddened by this heartbreaking loss, and our thoughts and sympathies remain with the runner’s family and loved ones throughout this difficult time,” a statement released by Disney states.

No information was released surrounding the circumstances of the runner’s death and no information about the runner was released.

The 5K race on Friday is part of a three-day Disney Wine & Diney Half Marathon Weekend, which includes the 5K, a 10K on Saturday and the half-marathon on Sunday.

About 15,000 runners are expected to participate in the half-marathon.
