Marvel producing four Super Hero series for Netflix
Four Marvel characters will get their own original series on Netflix starting in 2015.
The Walt Disney Co. and Netflix announced this unprecedented deal produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Television Studios, according to a press release from the two companies.
All four series will focus on heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. The first series will be
“Daredevil,” followed by “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage.”
Netflix has committed to four 13 episode series culminating in a Marvel’s “The Defenders” mini-series.
“This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty,” Alan Fine, president of Marvel Entertainment, said in the press release.
