2 more new Epcot attractions/areas to be announced Sunday at D23 Expo 2019

While Disney announced a new Moana-inspired attraction will be coming to Epcot in the future, there is at least two more attractions or areas will be unveiled, according to posters in the Disney Parks pavilion at D23 Expo 2019.

The posters, which are in the Imagining Tomorrow, Today pavilion, illustrate the key areas of Epcot and there is one poster that is to be unveiled on Sunday. (See below)

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek is expected to make more major announcements about the future of the Disney Parks, including what will be behind the new poster during the parks panel on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 10:30 a.m. PT / 1:30 p.m. ET.

Disney is in the middle of a major transformation at Epcot. The pavilion at D23 also offers an interpretation of what the future Epcot will look like. In addition to the new Moana ride we also know of these previous announcements:

Experience Center. In October. Guests will be able to visualize the exciting plans for Epcot when doors open later this year on a new Experience Center in the Odyssey Events Pavilion. They will discover engaging and interactive exhibits that showcase the relentless innovation, energy and excitement driving the future of the park all throughout this unprecedented period of transformation.

Epcot Forever. Debuts Oct. 1, 2019. The current Illuminations show at Epcot will close on Sept. 30, 2019, and a major new show will debut in 2020. In between, a new show called “Epcot Forever” set to classic Epcot tunes will debut as a nighttime spectacular placeholder.

Space-themed restaurant. Opens late 2019. A new space-themed restaurant will open in Epcot between  Mission: Space and Test Track. The restaurant will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group, which operates several other restaurants at  Disney World including Tutto Italia and Via Napoli at Epcot and Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs. The restaurant will feel as if it is on a space station and you will have a view from space at every window.

Beauty and the Beast Sign-Along:  TBA in 2019. A new interactive sing-along similar to the Frozen one found in Hollywood Studios, will share the current theater with “Impressions de France” and will run multiple times per day. 

New China Pavilion Circle-Vision 360. TBA in 2019. The China pavilion’s Circle-Vision 360 in Epcot will feature seamless screens.

New Canada Circle-Vision 360. TBA 2019. The attraction is closed and work is already taking place. It could open as early as the end of November 2019.

Awesome Planet film. TBA 2019. A new film called “Awesome Planet” is coming to the Land Pavilion in Epcot. The film will showcase the spectacular beauty, diversity and dynamic story of our earth with all the grandeur guests have come to expect.”

“A Celebration of Disney Music” Scheduled for 2020. The new nighttime spectacular at Epcot will show how Disney music inspires people around the globe. The show will feature large floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, kites with special effects, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, and lasers. 

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Scheduled for 2020. This new ride at Epcot is causing the France Pavilion to expand. Entrance to the ride will be behind the Eiffel Tower.  The attraction is based on the popular Disneyland Paris ride. It is a 4D experience you are shrunk down to the size of Remy when he and his friends are cooking up a delicious meal, but are discovered by Chef Skinner, who chases you through the sights, sounds, and smells of Gusteau’s famous Parisian restaurant.

A New crêperie restaurant. This new restaurant next to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will feature the cuisine of celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse, the mastermind behind the pavilion’s Chefs de France brasserie. The menu will be inspired by the Brittany region of France and offer table service dining as well as a quick-service stop for guests craving crepes called galettes and sweet crepes.

Play Pavilion. Scheduled to open for 2021. The new pavilion will take over the current Wonder of Life location in Epcot and include first-of-their-kind experiences devoted to playful fun, inviting guests into an innovative, interactive city bursting with games and hands-on activities. Friends and family will interact with favorite Disney characters. The official name of the pavilion has not yet been announced.

Guardians of the Galaxy rollercoaster.Scheduled for 2021.The new Marvel-themed ride in Epcot will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world. Based on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, it will open in 2021 in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Here is the schedule of closures coming to Epcot to help in the transformation:

  • Art of Disney: The store will operate temporarily from a new location while refurbishment is underway. Heritage Manor at the American Adventure will later become the new home for Art of Disney offerings.
  • Epcot Character Spot: This location will close Sept. 8, 2019. As this takes place character meetings will take place at new locations around Epcot.
  • Club Cool: The place to cool down and get a Coke will close on Sep.t 8. Club Cool will reopen in a new capacity at a future merchandise location. 
  • Innoventions East: Innoventions East, Colortopia and Nanooze Break are scheduled to close on Sept. 8, 2019.
  • Pin Central: This location will close while refurbishment is underway. The Camera Center will close this fall to become a new home for Pin Central.
  • The Camera Center: The Camera Center is scheduled to close this fall to become a new home for Pin Central.
  • Electric Umbrella:  This quick-service restaurant will close in the winter. New dining options will be available in the future, featuring a variety of food and beverage selections.
  • Fountain View: Fountain View featuring Starbucks will relocate to a temporary location in late Fall.
  • Mouse Gear:  This store will move to a temporary home this winter while its current location is reimagined.
  • Fountain of Nations: The huge fountain in between Mouse Gear and Fountain View will close on Sept. 8 as well.
