Jeffrey Brown Darth Vader maquettes available for Father’s Day

Artist Jeffrey Brown has put a whole new spin on Star Wars with his illustrated books, “Darth Vader & Son” and “Vader’s Little Princess,” which imagine life with an involved daddy Darth.

This spring, the artists at Gentle Giant Studios are translating Brown’s charming drawings into two 3D maquettes, one featuring little Luke giving his daddy a red tie with a Rebel logo pattern, and one with a knee-high Leia cutting hearts out of her daddy’s black cape.

The limited edition, hand-numbered maquettes will each come with a special edition of the appropriate book, along with 16 pages of previously unreleased black-and-white concept sketches by the author. The sets also include a full-color illustration from Brown printed on board, packaged in a vellum sleeve.

Each box set sells for $149.99; pre-orders are being taken now. Gentle Giant says the sets will be available in the second quarter, but they seem squarely aimed at Father’s Day.
