Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway unveils merchandise
Merchandise for Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway has been unveiled.
Previews for the musical start Feb. 26 and has an official opening on March 20.
The show features music by Alan Menken; lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin with a book by Beguelin, who is a two-time Tony nominee for his work on the Broadway musical “The Wedding Singer” and wrote the lyrics for l “Elf.”
The cast features Jonathan Freeman as Jafar. Now, if his voice sounds familiar, it should. He is the voice of Jafar in the movie version. Playing Aladdin is Adam Jacobs He has played Marius in “Les Miserable” and Simba in “The Lion King” on Broadway.
Playing the role of Genie – made famous in the movie by Robin Williams’ voice – is James Monroe Iglehart, who originated the role of Bobby in the Tony Award-winning musical “Memphis” and is a member of the hip hop improv group Freestyle Love Supreme.
