New Grand Avenue at Hollywood Studios in Disney World to open in Fall 2017 (Photos)
The former Streets of America and the Muppets Courtyard at Hollywood Studios in Disney World is being re-imagined into an area called Grand Avenue, and should open this fall, according to the Disney Parks Blog.
As the construction of Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes place, Disney also closed the Streets of America, leaving many wondering the fate of Muppet*Vision 3D. It looks like the Muppets are safe.
The Muppet theater will be renamed “Grand Arts Theatre” with a new marquee, the blog said.
“The theater and the current Muppets Courtyard will become Grand Park, an urban square off Grand Avenue surrounded by shops and restaurants like PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano,” the blog stats.
Grand Avenue itself is inspired by the revitalization of present-day downtown Los Angeles, where vintage office buildings and warehouses are being converted to new uses. Work has already taken place to bring in new facades. Trees have recently put in to line the street.
The BaseLine Tap House, which takes over a former F&B location, will be the new corner pub featuring California beers and wines along with a selection of small bites.
