7 things to celebrate at Disneyland in June that are not Star Wars related

June is near and the only thing everyone is talking about at Disneyland is the opening of the new 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

But, what happens if you don’t have one of those coveted reservations to get into the land, which you need until June 23? Well, you can go to Hyperspace Mountain and experience the special Star Wars overlay of Space Mountain. Or, you can visit these other new and returning attractions shows and celebrations taking place in June at the Disneyland Resort.

Disneyland Park

“Disneyland Forever: The fireworks spectacular returns June 7. The sky-high celebration features pyrotechnics, immersive projections and other effects that transform Disneyland into a magical canvas, taking guests on a breathtaking journey.

Monorail 60th anniversary: On June 14, 1959, celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first daily operating monorail in the Western Hemisphere.

Matterhorn Bobsleds 60 anniversary: On June 14, the Matterhorn Bobsled opened. This is the first roller coaster style attraction at Disneyland and the first tubular steel coaster in the world. It is 1/100ththe size of its counterpart in the Swiss Alps.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea 60th anniversary: On June 14, the original Submarine Voyage was one of the first “E” Ticket attractions at Disneyland and the current Finding Nemo attraction gave this fun attraction a new theme in 2007.

Disney California Adventure Park

Soarin’ Over California: The adventure returns from June 1 to June 30. This virtual tour celebrates the beauty and wonder of the Golden State—from San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge to the crashing waves in Malibu. You will be raised high into the air, and surrounded by an immersive, 80-foot projection dome to simulate the graceful motion of flight, while your senses will be teased with iconic scents found throughout California. 

“Tale of The Lion King:” Starting June 7, the “Tale of the Lion King” begins. The show features a cast of 18 performers – including actors, singers, dancers and drummers – who form an ensemble called the Storytellers of the Pride Lands.

Pixar Pier :  This new area of the park celebrates its first anniversary on June 22.
