Photos: Leave A Legacy and Epcot entrance construction updates
The walls are now up around the Leave
Epcot’s main entrance will be altered with new pathways, green spaces and a newly reimagined fountain. This new design will pay homage to the original park entrance with fresh takes on classic elements.
The large swaths of Leave A Legacy photos will move to a new location just outside the park’s gateway. The Leave A Legacy program launched during Disney World’s Millennium Celebration in 1999.
In addition to the relocation of those photos, the entry-area around the parking lot is being worked on. So if you have not been to the park yet, be aware there are a lot of green construction fences.
The work taking place includes building the area for the photos, but also creating an enclosed secure perimeter for the monorail exit. This way, when you get off the monorail you will remain in the security area and not have to go through a checkpoint again to enter the theme park.
Now to get on a monorail, either at the Transportation and Ticket Center or at a monorail resort, you already go through security.
In addition, there will be new security bag check entrances and the need to change the location of the parking trams. Work on new back check entrances is taking place all four parks.
I am glad that they are changing the tram route but the parking lots need to be renamed and should result in two separate load and unload zones. The West lot would be themed for countries around the world particularly the ones displayed at the World Showcase and the East lot to be themed for Future World. This project would be similar to the Heroes and Villains lot at Magic Kingdom. So when the tram construction is finished that’s when we know that the West parking parking would renamed as Germany (1st half of Create), France (2nd half of Create), Morrocco (1st half of Discover), China (2nd half of Discover), and etc. Furthermore, the East parking lot would be renamed Imagination (Imagine), Space (1st half of Explore), The Land (2nd half of Explore), Soarin (1st half of Wonder) and etc. In addition to the parking lot renaming and the changes to the tram routes, there could also be a parking lot expansion.
