Behind-the-scenes Rivers of Light experience coming to Backstage Magic Tour at Disney World

The 7-hour ultimate Backstage Magic Tour at Walt Disney World will be adding a new experience this June – a backstage look to see what it takes to bring the River of Light to life, Disney has announced.

This exclusive daytime visit takes guests backstage to visit a hidden marina where the animal and lotus barges are prepared for the evening performance. Guests will see and learn about mechanical and technological secrets behind the attraction.

The lunch location for the tour is also changing starting in June. Instead of eating at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, lunch will now be at Tiffins Restaurant in Animal Kingdom.

The private lunch will feature a special menu and insider stories about the creation of Animal Kingom.

The Backstage Magic Tour is led by Adventure Guides from Adventures by Disney. The guides provide a plethora of knowledge, little-known facts and insider insights. And at the end of the seven-hour tour you do get a special gift.

Here’s what you see on the tour:

  • Epcot: Explore the inner workings of The American Adventure as you find out what it takes to put on the Audio-Animatronics stage show.
  • Magic Kingdom Park: You get to see the “utilidor” tunnels, a network of underground passageways constructed beneath the theme park so Disney Cast Members and delivery vehicles can move around undetected.
  • Creative Costuming: Observe the talented professionals who design costumes for Character, show and parade performers.
  • Central Shops: Get up close with the artisans whose skill and craftsmanship make dreams come true all around the park—from the tiniest details to elaborate stage sets.
  • Textile Services: See one of the world’s largest laundry facilities, with what is promised a unique photo opportunity. Note that this will change June 1 to the Rivers of Light Experience.

This VIP tour is for those 12 and over. The cost is $275 per person. It does include lunch and snacks.
