Permit filed for Animal Kingdom entrance changes

Animal Kingdom’s entrance will go through a small alteration, including changing the parking trams drop off location and creation of what looks to be new bag check areas, according to a permit filed with the state today.

The permit, filed with the South Water Florida Management District, is for work on a water basin. What the diagram show is the change in route of the parking tram, new structures and new gates. It appears that Disney is looking to move the security checkpoints closer to the parking area.

As you can see below, the area for work to take place is outlined below. We marked where the current security bag check area is and where the tram drops guests off from the parking lot.

Below, we have highlighted the line drawing changes and marked some areas to show the proposed changes. Let’s break it down:

  • A – This is where the new tram loop would be. It is unknown from the plans if there would be a drop off area to the right side of the outline and a pickup area to the left or if drop off and pickup would be in the same location.
  • B – A new gate is proposed.
  • C – These are buildings. It is unknown for what purpose.
  • D – The outline of a structure.
  • E – The outline of a structure.
  • F – An area for the bag check tables.

This would be the second change to a tram stop. Hollywood Studios is in the middle of upgrading and changing its tram station with a new structure as well.
