Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Christmas Day behind-the-scenes update
Disney released a new video update on Christmas as part of its Christmas Day parade special updating all on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land coming to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019.
The video gives a first look at what the actual rides will look like. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will put guests behind the controls of the Millennium Falcon. According to the video, the ride will seat six people where you take on the role of a pilot, gunner or flight engineer. The video shows going into hyperspace and getting into a battle.
“This will be an intense super fun experience on the fastest ship in the galaxy,” Imagineer executive Scott Trowbridge says in the video.
Guests are placed in the middle of the Resistance and the First Order in the attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This is being touted by Trowbridge as the most epic attraction ever built. You are a recruit of the Resistance to stand up against Kylo Ren.
In this attraction, eight people are placed in a ride vehicle, led by a droid, through the attraction. A life-size AT-AT Walker fires at the vehicle. Not much else is shown about this attraction in the video.
No specific dates have yet been announced for the opening of the lands, except that Disneyland is expected to open in the Summer 2019 and the Disney World version will open in the Fall 2019
