Guardian’s of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 soundtrack is certified Gold

The Guardian’s of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 soundtrack has been certified Gold, selling over 500,000 copies.

Just eight weeks after being released the album became the 452nd soundtrack to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, according to the RIAA database.

The album was the second chart-topping soundtrack of 2014 and was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in its second and third weeks of release.

The music plays a key role in the movie, which has already earned over $630 million worldwide, and features such classic 1970s tracks as “Hooked on a Feeling,” “I’m Not in Love” “Come and Get Your Love,” and “Cherry Bomb.”

In the movie, the lead character — Peter Quill — only has a cassette tape left from his family and constantly plays the music.

The songs on the Awesome Mix Tape, Vol. 1 includes:
