New video shows Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy Edge construction
New aerial video shows detailed progress of the construction taking place at Disneyland’s version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
We have been lucky to get monthly updates and photos of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios in Disney World by @bioreconstruct, but there has not been a lot available coming out of Disneyland.
The new video was taken Dec. 7, 2018, by appropriately named Rogue Aviation, a Costa Mesa-based helicopter flight school and aerial film production company.
The video footage shows a completed Millennium Falcon, where attraction, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, will be located. Guests will be placed behind the controls of the Millennium. Each crew of four will have specific tasks as the crew goes on a mission.
The video gives a look at the 500-foot-long rock cliffside that is the backdrop for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This attraction puts guests in the middle of a fight between the First Order and the Resistance.
In the center of the land is a replica of the Corellian YT-1300 light freighter sitting in a docking bay. You also get a good sense of how big the ride buildings are in the 14-acre land.
The Disneyland version is expected to open in the summer of 2019 and the Disney World version is expected to open in late fall 2019. It is believed the Disney World version is three months behind the Disneyland version in construction.
