James Earl Jones lends his voice to ‘Star Wars Rebels’
Disney will air the pilot for “Star Wars Rebels” in primetime on ABC later this month, and to lure the faithful back for a second viewing, it’s adding a little something: a cameo of Darth Vader voiced by the legendary James Earl Jones.
Jones, of course, was the voice of Darth Vader in the original “Star Wars” trilogy. Disney fans will know he also provided the voice of Mufasa in “The Lion King.”
“We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast,” Executive Producer Dave Filoni said in a news release. “We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”
The animated series is set between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV, as the Empire tightens its grip on the Galaxy.
The hour-long pilot, with the added scene, will air on ABC at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. New episodes of “Star Wars Rebels” will start Oct. 13 on Disney XD.
