Cable installation for new Disney Skyliner to begin shortly

Installation of the more than six miles of cable that will be used on the new Disney Skyliner system at Disney World will be taking place during the next several months, according to the Disney Parks Blog.

The gondola system will connect Epcot and Hollywood Studios with the Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach and the new Riviera resorts.

Many of the Disney Skyliner stations are nearing completion and the support towers are now dotting the landscape. Disney is also seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to oversee the system once it is complete.

According to Disney, a series of reinforced cables will be installed over the next several months between the towers and to the stations to carry the themed gondolas.

No date has been announced yet for the opening of the system, but it is believed it might open in summer 2019 or early 2020.
