Yes, Mickey Mouse does have a Social Security number

It is fascinating to see the level of detail Disney incorporates into Mickey Mouse’s backstory—including the fact that he technically has his own Social Security number.

This bit of trivia comes from the 1995 animated short Runaway Brain. In one scene, Mickey opens his wallet, giving viewers a quick glimpse at his personal belongings. Alongside a library card and a classic photo of him as Steamboat Willie, his Social Security card is clearly visible.

For the curious, the number is 746-55-2769.

While it might seem like a random string of digits, it was actually a deliberate choice. According to the Social Security Administration, the prefix “746” was not assigned to a specific area or individual prior to 2011, ensuring that Mickey’s number remains unique to him. Just be sure to leave it out of any official paperwork—Mickey has already been a victim of identity theft.

In a scene in this short, Mickey unfolds his wallet, and we get to see an early photo of Mickey as Steamboat Willie, his library card, and a photo of Mickey and Minnie.
