Bob Iger on alcohol in Disneyland, Star Wars movies

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss numerous topics from the purchase of 20th Century Fox, to the #MeToo movement to the future of Marvel.

He also talked about the introduction of alcohol being served at Disneyland when the new Star Wars land opens.

“We have to be careful we don’t let people drink and then go on Autopia. (He laughed)”

When mentioned that Walt did specifically say no booze at Disneyland, Iger said joked that while a big believer in tradition, “This just seemed like one of those traditions that if we changed it the empire wasn’t gonna crumble.”

When it comes to how many Star Wars movies are released each year, Iger said that the buck will stop with him on that issue, especially after how the most recent “Solo: A Star Wars Story” did at the box office.

“You can expect some slowdown, but that doesn’t mean we’re not gonna make films. J.J. [Abrams] is busy making [Episode] IX. We have creative entities, including [Game of Thrones creators David] Benioff and [D.B.] Weiss, who are developing sagas of their own, which we haven’t been specific about. And we are just at the point where we’re gonna start making decisions about what comes next after J.J.’s” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
