Mickey Mouse’s topiary towers above all others

We all know that Mickey Mouse towers over many other animated characters, but earlier this year Mickey towered above all, chalking up another Guinness World Record.

The Mickey Mouse topiary sculpture at the Dubai Miracle Garden in February broke the record for tallest topiary sculpture (supported).

At 59 feet and 3 inches high, the sculpture marks Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday.

According to Guinness, the topiary is composed of nearly 1,000 different plants and flowers and weighs in at about 35 tons, with a concrete foundation of 50 tons.

The Dubai Miracle Garden said more Disney characters are expected to be completed in November when Disney will officially celebrate Mickey’s 90th birthday.

New record: Tallest topiary sculpture (supported). Dubai @dubaimiraclegarden in UAE have created this 18.06 m (59 ft 3 in) tall Mickey Mouse to celebrate their licensing partnership with The Walt @disney Company ??? The sculpture was created using a blooming colourful array of almost 1,000 different plants and flowers (including white petunia, red petunia, white geranium, yellow viola, zinnia marigold and green alternanthera). The sculpture weighs around 35 tons and is supported by a four-ton steel structure with a concrete foundation of 50 tons (45,359.2 kg) of reinforced concrete.
